In Friday’s 20-0 loss to Henderson County, it was the first game this season the Marshals have been shutout. The Colonels were last year’s 6A District 1 Champions and came into the game 4-1, their one loss to Boyle County 48-14. It was the 29th time they have met and the Marshals last win over the Colonels came in 2007 in the first round of the 6A playoffs.

Henderson County led 10-0 at halftime, capitalizing on an interception for a 7-0 lead and added a field goal. In all, the Marshals turned the ball over five times Friday, two of them in the second half resulted in more points for the Colonels on a touchdown and field for the 20-0 win. It was their second straight shutout after defeating Paducah Tilghman the week before by the same 20-0 score.

Jordan Wright scored both of the Colonels touchdowns on 39 and three yard runs. Zavier Cruse kicked both field goals, a 35 yarder in the second quarter and 40 yard field goal in the third quarter.

The Marshals had just over 100 yards in offense, most of those in the first half as the Colonels defense shut them down in the second half. Landon Utley led in rushing with 62 yards on 17 carries and caught three passes for 12 yards. Aiden Dunigan had eight rush attempts for 26 yards. In passing, Conner Nix was 4-for-21 with 16 net yards and three interceptions.

Aiden Dunigan led in total tackles with eight, Keadon Ford had seven and four players had six – Landon Utley, Greyson Cretsinger, Kyler Roberts and Braden Coble.

Wright and Seth Goben led Henderson on the ground for the Colonels, each with just under 100 yards. Goben was 11-for-20 in the air for 90 yards.

The Marshals (2-5) will host Apollo (4-2) for Homecoming on October 15 following a bye week this Friday.
