Mr. Jimmie Lynn Dawson, 83 of Calvert City, KY passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY.

Born Thursday, February 24, 1938, in Pickwick, TN, he was the son of the late William A. Dawson and the late Opal Mae (Calhoun) Dawson. Mr. Dawson began his career in sales with Commonwealth Life Insurance Company, where he promoted to Sales Manager. He would later join Mayer Myers Paper Company where he would spend the next 30 years. After retirement, he worked several years at USEC in West Paducah, KY. He was a 60 year member of the Linton Lodge No. 783, F&AM, Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121, F&AM, Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville, KY and was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. Mr. Dawson was the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Sharpe/ Possum Trot Fire Department for over 40 years. He loved his family, playing golf, UK basketball and watching his granddaughter Janie play for the Lady Marshals. He was a member of Palma United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo (Baker) Dawson of Calvert City, KY; daughter, Sherry “Darlene” Canup, husband Randy of Benton, KY; son, William “Lynn” Dawson, wife Judy of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Joshua D. Canup, Katie Canup Stom, husband Jamie and Janie Canup Ford, husband Hunter; great-grandchildren, Sydney Jo Canup, Taylor Nicole Canup, Dawson Canup, Jackson Canup, Conner Stom, Nate Stom and Jesse Stom.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Wesley Paul Dawson.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY, with Bro. James Stom and Bro. Jim Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow the services in the Marshall Co. Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.

Friends may visit with the family after 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, Lexington, KY, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508.
