Members of the community joined Marcella’s Kitchen on Friday to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Founded by Marcella Perkins a decade ago when she got the idea for one in Marshall County after working in a community kitchen in Paducah.
After eight years in their Draffenville location, Marcella’s Kitchen has been in their new location at 868 Guy Mathis Drive in Benton since May 6, 2019. Open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. five days a week, Marcella’s “Serving with Love and Loving to Serve” has fed, fueled and touched the lives of thousands – serving over 5,000 meals each month.
“God has taken us a long way since the beginning when we served around 30 to 40 people a day with one four burner stove”, Marcella Perkins said. “The new location is debt free, all made possible with donations and the wonderful volunteers who make it all possible.”
