Willie Irene Edwards, age 91, of Benton, KY, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her residence in Benton, KY. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late John Collins and the late Elizabeth (Koon) Collins.
She was also preceded in death by her husband: Virgil Edwards, her first husband: Homer Newton, three sons: Homer Newton Jr., Chuck Newton, and Gerald Edwards, one daughter: Irene Turner, three brothers: John Thomas Collins, Sydney Jones, and Cecil Collins, and three grandchildren: Mary Millicent Newton, Melissa Taylor and Jimmy Ed McLeod Jr.
She is survived by two sons: Carl Newton and George Newton both of Benton, KY, three daughters: Judy McLeod of Benton, KY, Margaret McLeod of Princeton, KY, and Kathy King of Benton, KY, one brother: Charles Clovis Collins of Benton, KY, 18 grandchildren: Kristi Bradley, Brandon King, Mary Andrus, Lena Archibald, Jimmye Johnson, Stephanie Cowen, Homer Newton, Phillip Newton, Mandy Newton, Sheila Davis, Pamela Clark, Carla Beeler, Jennifer Shavey, George Lee McLeod, Angie Johnson, Donnie Newton, Tony Turner, and Timmy Turner, 30 great grandkids, and 19 great great grandkids.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, April 10, 2021. Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 11:00 AM, Sunday, April 11, 2021, Rev. David Hamlett officiating. Interment will be at Hiett Cemetery, Benton, KY.
