Speed Limit Reduction for U.S. 62 Work Zone in Western McCracken County starting Monday, March 22

PADUCAH, Ky. (March 19, 2021)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to reduce the speed limit in a work zone on U.S. 62/Blandville Road in Western McCracken County starting Monday, March 22, 2021.

The speed limit on U.S. 62/Blandville Road will be reduced from 55 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour between the McCracken Boulevard traffic signal and the KY 998/Olivet Church Road intersection at the end of the existing 4-lane.  This is along U.S. 62 between milepoint 7.851 and 8.8, a distance of about 1 mile.

Lowering the speed limit to 35 mph is aimed at improving safety for both the public and workers in this work zone to extend the 4-lane section.

Motorists should be alert for flaggers at multiple locations along this work zone, as well as frequent traffic shifts to facilitate the work.

Jim Smith Contracting is the prime contractor on this $7.7 million project, which includes new bridges across Massac Creek. The target completion date is December 1, 2022.
