Boone wins American Legion High School oratory competition

Marshall County High School junior Jackson Boone won the state competition in the American Legion High School Oratory contest.  Upon arrival at the state tournament yesterday it was announced that the national competition was cancelled. The national organization will award all state winners a $5,000 scholarship in addition to his state prize of $2,000.

Jackson gave two speeches: a prepared oration on any aspect of the Constitution with an emphasis on the obligations of citizens to the government of the United States and an assigned topic that may address any topic drawn on site regarding articles and amendments of the constitution.
