Nettie Ross, 90

Nettie Sue Ross took her last breath on February 4th at Lourdes Hospital Hospice surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born on July 19,1930 in Mayfield, Ky to George and Bea Carter. She attended Mayfield High School.

She dated and finally married newly enlisted Chester Ross also from Mayfield.

It wasn’t long after that, they headed Puerto Rico. The steel mills called Chester and Sue to Gary, Indiana which was also close to some family there.  Their family expanded too with the birth of Frank, (1956), and Julie (Cone-1958).

In the early 60’s they packed up the truck and they moved back to Kentucky, Calvert City in particular. Chester took a job at AirCo Sales while Sue raised Frank and Julie and added Carrie (Spissinger-1962) to the family.  Chester changed jobs and went to GAF and Sue once again added Mom to the title, Janet (Driver-1967).

Sue found time to raise 4 kids and took a job with the US postal Service in Calvert until the early 90’s.

Family was the focal point of her life helping raise, babysit and befriend 11 grandkids:

Annie Colson, Kate Morefield, Sam Toby, Hannah Tapp, Garrett Dossett, Jack Dossett, Leigh Toby, Maury Greer, Ali Greer,Jada Driver, and Peli Ross.

Great grandkids: Drake Butler, Van Reed, Sophie Donohoo, McCall Anderson and Jolie Colson.

And if that isn’t enough, she still had love to share with her 4 legged friends, currently Ruby and Mean Kitty.

With Gods gift of 2 ears and 1 mouth, she would always listen twice as much than what she spoke Sue could stretch a penny into a dollar like a pro, But would neglect her self or new fashion trend to make sure she could help any family in need.

At 4 foot -something, her love of smiles and laughter was huge and never ending and never to be forgotten by any who met her.

It was not unusual for her to put up her dukes in a boxing match with a grandson, shooting a game horse in her driveway with the grandkids, or try her hand at pickle ball.

The family would love your attendance  to celebrate this SUPER LADY.

Visitation for Sue will be Sunday Feb 6 at 12pm at Collier Funeral home followed by services at 1pm.

I lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Marshall County Humane Society, PO Box 531, Benton, KY 42025.
