Jane Bloomingburg, 91

Jane Bloomingburg, 91, of Benton, KY passed away at 1:20 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.

Jane was born on April 25, 1929 in Detroit, MI to her late parents, John Edward Cavitt and Lena (Edwards) Cavitt. She was a member of Oak Valley Church of Christ where she also supported her late husband, Billie “Bill”, in his role as an elder for the church, and taught her own Sunday School class. She was also a former member of the West Kentucky Model A Restorers Club and a fan of the Detroit Tigers baseball team.

It was always a dream of hers to have a family one day and to be able to spend her time caring for them and be a part of all their activities. After marrying Billie Joe, Jane committed her life to being a stay at home wife and mother to their two sons. Just as she had always dreamt, she became very active in both of her son’s lives and made it a point to spend as much time with them as she could. Whether it was helping her boys build an ice skating rink at home or going for night time rides on their bicycles she would always do whatever she could to be right there along side of them. Not only was she an amazing mother, but she also took on multiple other roles around the house. Everything from gardening and tending to the flowers, to helping out with other duties like roofing the house. Jane was also blessed with the gift of being an amazing cook and found a lot of joy in cooking meals for other people. Quite often she would prepare meals for her neighbors or other friends and people throughout the community that were sick or in need. She also had a love for antiques of all different types and enjoyed painting ceramics from time to time.

Jane was known for many things throughout her life but her belief of always putting God first and her sense of humor were two things that were undeniable to anyone who had ever met her. Throughout the years some people may have even been on the receiving end of one of her many practical jokes. To Jane, family was everything and later in life she was blessed with the opportunity to become a grandmother of three and a great grandmother of five. She enjoyed surrounding herself with all of her family and reading books to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially loved Christmas because it was the time of the year when all of the family was always able to come together as one and spend time with one another. Jane’s caring and nurturing character is one quality that was felt by so many people in her life and undoubtedly a gift and quality that she passed down to all of her family members. Her belief and love for God, along with the importance that she placed on being together with family will forever be carried on by all of her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Gary Bloomingburg of Benton, KY and Joe Dale (Betty) Bloomingburg of Macomb, MI; one sister, Barbara Lloyd of Michigan; two brothers, Larry English of Michigan, Doug English of Mississippi; three grandchildren, Shawn (Mark) Sommers, Cathy Bloomingburg, Jenna (Noah) Edwards; five great-grandchildren, Makenna Sommers, Caleb Sommers, Jacob Edwards, Amelia Edwards, Adalynn Sommers.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her step father, Lowell English; and three brothers, Charles Cavitt, Paul Cavitt, and Nelson Eddy English.
