Felony arrest following disturbance in Lyon County

(Eddyville, KY) – On January 1, 2021 at 4:48 a.m., the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a 911 call reporting an armed disturbance approximately 12 miles south of Eddyville on Eddy Creek Road. The initial 911 dispatch indicated there was a male family member inside a residence, armed with a large caliber rifle, who had pointed the weapon at family members and who was beating down an interior door trying to gain access to the same family members in the home.

Upon arrival of Deputy Sam Adams and Sheriff Brent White, the male offender was called out of the home. Initially, the offender failed to comply with verbal commands of the officers; however, he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Inside the residence, an elderly female and juvenile female were found hiding in a bathroom where they had fled after the offender forcibly entered a bedroom. In addition, a loaded .308 Caliber Springfield rifle used by the offender was located, along with marijuana, synthetic drugs, and drug paraphernalia found in the possession of the offender.

The elderly female received a minor injury while attempting to flee from the offender. She was examined by Lyon County EMS at the scene and declined medical treatment.

The offender was identified as Kevin R. Mosier (58) of Eddyville. He was arrested and charged with the following criminal offenses:

Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree (2 counts)
Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Assault-4th Degree (domestic violence/minor injury)
Resisting Arrest
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Synthetic Drugs-1st Offense
Drug Paraphernalia-Use/Possession

The offender was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center by the Lyon County Jailer. The investigation is continuing by Deputy Sam Adams.
