Bonita Wyatt, 71

Bonita Kay Wyatt, 71 of Benton, Kentucky, went to Heaven on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 8:29 p.m. at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky. She will be remembered by her family and countless friends as a devoted Christian, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a compassionate friend, and a dedicated teacher. The world has lost a bright light in the passing of our loved one.

Born in Mayfield, Kentucky, to Bryan and Evelyn Jordan on January 9, 1949, she grew up in Hardin, KY. Kay was a graduate of South Marshall High School and received a bachelors degree in English and elementary education and a masters degree in special education, both from Murray State University. She was a dedicated teacher and retired from Trigg County High School.

Kay’s most important roles in life were being the wife of Philip Wyatt, mother to her 3 children, and grandmother to her 9 grandchildren. She was a nurturing and adoring mother and grandmother.

She was also devoted to her church, Glendale Road Church of Christ in Murray, KY, and led ladies study and prayer groups. She loved to garden and had beautiful flowers in her flower beds. She went on off-road rock-climbing adventures and hot rod events with her husband, grandchildren, and friends.

Kay was preceded in death by her father Bryan Jordan.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Philip Wyatt; her mother, Evelyn Jordan; sons, Scott Wyatt (Staci) of Medina, TN and Dr. Todd Wyatt (Heather) of Searcy, AR, daughter, Amy Nelson (Greg) of Benton, KY; grandchildren Anna Marie Wyatt, Bryson Wyatt, Collin Wyatt, Dylan Wyatt, Lainey Wyatt, Landon Wyatt, Ethan Wyatt, Tyler Nelson, and Seth Nelson. Gene Hamilton of Indianapolis, IN and Wanda Moore of Ashville, NC who lived with Kay as children also survive.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18th, 2020 at Murray Memorial Gardens, US 641 North, Murray, KY, John Dale and Mark Hurt will officiate. There will be no public visitation.
