Marshals fall to Mustangs 57-0

Trailing 8-0 through the start of the second quarter, the Marshals were still in the game against McCracken County on Friday after they scored on a five yard run by Hunter Bradley, but the Mustangs would go on to score 49 more points to win 57-0.

Nineteen points came in the second quarter for the Mustangs. Bradley scored his second touchdown on a 16 yard run on a drive that went 69 yards following an interception of sophomore quarterback Conner Nix.

The next Marshall possession ended quickly on a fumble and the Mustangs wasted no time scoring on a one yard run by Jeremiah Hughes. The final score of the first half came on a 22 yard pass reception to Bradley from quarterback Pryor Lamb for a 27-0 halftime lead.

McCracken County’s 30 second half points came on an 18 yard pass from Lamb to Zack Masek, a Carter Roland rushing touchdown, Bradley rushed for his third touchdown of the game, a safety on a Marshals punt into the end zone and the final points came on a fumble picked up by Klayton Reeves who took it 47 yards.

The Mustangs racked up 386 total yards, 190 rushing and 196 in the air. They were led in rushing by Bradley with 140 yards on 11 carries. Lamb threw for 196 yards on 12/16 and his top two targets were Mayes who had four receptions for 65 yards and Hughes with two receptions for 58 yards.

The Marshals had 21 total yards of offense, 14 of those were passing yards. Three fumbles were recovered by Chase Gibbs, Griffin Darnall and Paxton Perry. Talon Smother led in total tackles with six and Kameron Bowerman had five. Four players recorded four total tackles – Braden Clough, Logan Reese, Bryar Cornwell and Brodie Young.

The Marshals fall to 0-2 and will play their first district game Friday at home against Daviess County. The Panthers are 1-1 with a win over Ohio County and last Friday’s 42-34 loss to Owensboro.
