The Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce in Marshall County would like to announce that Marshall County High School senior Anastasia Shaverina, has been chosen as the recipient of their $1,000 scholarship awarded each year to a deserving local high school graduate.
Anastasia is the daughter of Anatoliy & Anna Shaverina of Benton and she plans to attend the University of Kentucky this fall to pursue a degree in Engineering. She visited the UK campus as early as her sophomore year, absolutely loved it and set her sights then on going there.
The Chamber would like to congratulate Anastasia on her extraordinary efforts in accomplishing all that she has in her little over 4 years not only in Marshall County, but in America since she and her family migrated here from Russia in the middle of her eighth grade year. She has proven to be a very driven student who challenged herself with numerous difficult courses throughout her high school career, involved herself in several school and church activities and maintained a food service job once she was able to drive.
