PADUCAH, Ky. (April 21, 2020) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed a section of KY 309 in southern Fulton County for additional base repairs and drainage work through Friday, April 24, 2020.

A crew was on site today for paving along a section of KY 309 were a series of base repairs and drainage work had been completed in recent weeks. As the crew was milling an area to prepare for asphalt paving, they found additional areas where water has saturated the roadway base and created the need for additional repairs.

KY 309 is now closed at this site and expected to remain closed until late in the day on Friday. If rain in the forecast hampers additional repair and drainage work the closure could be extended into next week.

This closure is along KY 309 between KY 925 and Rodney Jones Road. It is approximately 2 miles north of the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line and just south of the Brownsville community. KY 309 connects with Mt. Olive Road in Tennessee.

Due to the need for extensive repairs, the roadway will be closed to all traffic around the clock through Friday.

The Fulton County Highway Maintenance Crew will attempt to provide timely updates as the work continues.
