
Christian Fellowship lost 63-56 to Livingston Central at home on Jan. 23 but Tuesday in Smithland, earned a season split in a 44-38 win and they improve to 12-11. The Lady Eagles were led in the win by Gracie Howard with 19 points, 15 coming in the second half.
A close game from the opening tip with nine ties throughout, the first at 6-6 to end the first quarter after CFS led the entire quarter before the Lady Cardinals tied it on a basket by Lauren Wring.
Livingston took their first lead of the game on a second quarter opening basket by Gracie Downey, tied again by Lillian Burnett for CFS at 8-8. A basket by Renee Shields gave the Lady Eagles the lead back they held until 12-12 and the first half ended on a 14-14 tie.
Like the second quarter, Downey opened the third with a basket that put Livingston back on top, tied again on a basket from Shields, the first of four ties in the quarter. Maggie Downey gave Livingston the lead at 22-20 before CFS closed out the third quarter on a 6-0 run, getting two baskets from Burnett and one by Howard to lead 26-22.
Howard scored to open the fourth quarter to give CFS a six point lead, the largest of the game. Livingston battled back to force the final tie at 30-30 followed by a 7-1 run by the Lady Eagles, highlighted by the first three of the game from Jayden Jackson to lead by six again at 37-31.
Livingston put together a 7-0 run to take a 38-37 lead with 1:52 remaining. Howard dropped in two free throws to put CFS back up by one at 1:33, the start of seven straight from the eighth grader to finish out the win by six.
The Lady Eagles will celebrate Senior Night on Friday when they play Fort Campbell.
