
A 55-50 win over Riverview High School (FL) wrapped up play for the Marshals in Fort Myers, Fla. in the City of Palms Classic. A nice way to end things after two losses to Fort Myers 74-71 in overtime and 79-26 to Roman Catholic.
A 14-6 first quarter lead stretched out to 30-14 at halftime, the 16 points the Marshals largest lead of the game. Riverview rallied in the third quarter by out-scoring the Marshals 20-8 and pulling to within four points heading into the fourth. The Marshals held them off in the fourth with a one-point advantage in the quarter to win by five.
Tyler Powell led the way with 20 points followed by 18 from Tyler Stokes. Jayven Millien led Riverview with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Marshals shot 85.2 percent from the free throw line hitting 23 of 27.
Jay Nimmo represented the Marshals in Sunday’s 3-point contest, falling one money ball short of making the finals. Brandon Dwyer of Sanford School (DE) won the 3-point competition and Malachi Wideman of Venice High School (FL) was dunk champion.
