On Monday, September 23rd, 2019, detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office investigated allegations of drug trafficking in the Marshall County community. The investigation led to the arrest of a Benton, Ky. resident and a resident from the State of Michigan for trafficking marijuana and trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree.
Detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for the residence of 227 Al York Rd. Benton, Ky. 42025. Upon execution of the search warrant, detectives seized over 8 ounces of marijuana “shatter”, over $1000 in cash and MDMA which is a Schedule I controlled substance. MDMA is also called “Molly” or “Ecstasy”. Marijuana “shatter” is a cannabis extract that ranges from about a 40 to 80 percent THC content, depending on the cannabis oil concentrate. There have been numerous reported instances of marijuana overdoses on edibles and marijuana “shatter”. Detectives arrested Devin Chambliss of Benton, Kentucky and Cameron Menke of Hope, Michigan for trafficking marijuana over 8 ounces less than 5 lbs. 1st offense, trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense less than 10 dosage units date rape drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. Chambliss and Menke were transported to the Marshall County Jail. The drugs seized has a street value of approximately $13000.00. Additional charges and arrests are pending further investigation.
