A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans overnight closures on Interstate 24 at the 30 mile marker on Monday & Tuesday, March 11 & 12, 2019.
Eastbound Overnight Closure on Monday, March 11 Motorists traveling I-24 eastbound at the 33 mile marker near Calvert City should be prepared for a temporary closure on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge between 6:00 p.m., CT, Monday, and 6:00 a.m., Tuesday. There will be a marked detour via the US 62 Calvert City Exit 27 Interchange to US 62 eastbound to KY 453 Northbound to return to I-24 at the Grand Rivers Exit 31 Interchange.
Westbound Overnight Closure on Tuesday, March 12 Motorists traveling I-24 westbound at the 30 mile marker near Calvert City should be prepared for a temporary closure on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge between 6:00 p.m., CT, Tuesday, and 6:00 a.m., Wednesday. There will be a marked detour via the KY 453 Grand Rivers Exit 31 Interchange to KY 453 South to US 62 Westbound to return to I-24 at the Calvert City Exit 27 Interchange.
I-24 will be reopened to traffic earlier than 6:00 a.m., each day, if the contractor finishes work ahead of schedule.
The contractor will be placing a water-proofing and drainage system on the new joints recently installed on the Tennessee River Bridge, as well as finishing out some final punch list items on the project. Once this work is completed, the work zone will be removed from the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge and all lanes will be open to normal traffic flow.
Due to the likelihood of traffic backups and possible delays during these overnight closures, local commuters should consider a self-detour along US 62 between Exit 27 and Exit 40.
American Contracting & Services of Jeffersonville, IN, is the prime contractor on this $1.1 Million bridge joint replacement project.
