Winter Weather Causes Multiple Wrecks

As snow and freezing rain moved into our area Wednesday afternoon, road conditions rapidly deteriorated despite the pre-treatment from the road department.

Calls began pouring in to 911 around 4:15 p.m. reporting vehicle accidents and collisions across the county. The volume of calls was so large that emergency management responders were called on to help respond to accidents with no injuries to assist with traffic until law enforcement could arrive.

Collectively, response agencies in Marshall County responded to approximately 25 total accidents Wednesday night. Five of the accidents reported minor injuries only.

According to emergency management director, Curt Curtner, Marshall County roads are mostly clear Thursday morning.
