Letter to the Editor: Veteran’s Day Parade

For full disclosure let me begin by stating that I am the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbertsville. I am keenly disappointed in the leadership of the Veterans Day Parade. While I am a firm supporter or our veterans and I am deeply appreciative and indebted to them, I will be unwilling and unable to support the parade being held on a Sunday morning. It is shameful that some will have to choose between supporting men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country and the worship of the one who gave so much for our eternity. I know this will seem divisive to some but for those who have a love for God first the holding of a parade on Sunday morning of all times just seems to be so much misplaced priorities. Yes I love my country, yes I thank every veteran who has served, but I am loyal to Christ first. I hope to see you in church on November 11th.
