Garbage Spill Creates Snarl on KY 93 South of Eddyville in Lyon County

KY 93 is restricted to one lane at the south edge of Eddyville in LYON County due to a garbage spill.

A door poppped open on a garbage truck traveling KY 93 between the entrance to Mineral Mounds State Park at KY 3305 and Gregory Road and US 62 spreading garbage along the roadway.   The mess has created a traffic snarl in this area.

A Freedom Waste crew is on site picking up the mess by hand.

KYTC personell are maintaining one lane traffic at this time.  There has been one crash reported in the area.

Motorists should avoid this area, if possible.  Passenger vehicles may self-detour via US 62 and KY 3305 to avoid the mess.  A detour via I-24 between Exit 40 and Exit 45 will also avoid this section of KY 93.

Estimated duration is 4 hours.

Approximately 3,500 vehicles travel this section of KY 93 in an average day.
