Nick Newcomb, former member of the Marshall County High School and Murray State golf teams, won the 82nd Irvin Cobb Championships Sunday at Paxton Park. Newcomb (71-65=136) beat 2017 champion Rick Cochran, III (70-68=138) by two strokes to win the title and prize money of $7,650.
Also lighting up the leaderboard, Marshall County’s Jay Nimmo and Tyler Powell took first and second in the Junior division. Nimmo (72-78=150) won by two strokes over Powell (78-74=152). Aaron Ingals (68-70=138) won the Amateur division in a playoff over Joshua Rhodes (72-66=138).
