Foust to run for Commonwealth Attorney

Dennis Foust has filed to run for Commonwealth Attorney in the 42nd Judicial Circuit, comprised of Calloway and Marshall Counties. Foust, 58, of Palma, is a life long resident of Marshall County. He is married to Ann Little Foust and they have three children, Catherine, Chandler, and Alec.

Foust is no stranger to the 42nd Circuit, having served as Circuit Judge from 1997 until 2015. Prior to that time, he served from 1990-1997 as Marshall District Judge, and was in private practice prior to his judicial career. He now serves in the retired judge program in the Commonwealth, where he is assigned special Judge cases, and conducts criminal mediations across western Kentucky. He also is an assistant Marshall County Attorney and is the superintendent at Mike Miller County Park.

“After leaving the bench, I have had the opportunity to step back and see that I still have much to offer the people of Calloway and Marshall Counties,” Foust said. “My judicial experience, and my experience in mediating more than 100 criminal cases in the past two years, has given me a new, fresh perspective on our criminal justice system. I believe that I am in a unique position to serve as Commonwealth Attorney, and if elected, will bring the same 24/7/365 dedication to the position that I brought to the bench.”

In 2005, Foust was named Kentucky’s Outstanding Trial Judge by the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys. He was also honored as the youngest judge in Kentucky in 1991. In addition to his legal career, Foust is active in the community. He serves on the board of directors of the Marshall County Baseball/Softball Association and the West Kentucky Baseball/Softball Association, is the founding director of the Marshall County Little Dribblers program, and is the public address announcer for Marshall County High School basketball, football, and baseball. Foust was inducted into the Marshall County High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. He is also a deacon and church treasurer at Zion’s Cause Baptist Church.
