Lady Marshals fall to Louisville Butler in Holiday Classic

Six teams will play nine games during the Lady Marshals Holiday Classic that began Wednesday at Reed Conder Gymnasium and will conclude on Friday. Wednesday’s line-up began with Graves County defeating Egyptian, IL, 90-25.

The Lady Marshals played the second game on Wednesday against undefeated Louisville Butler, led by Molly Lockhart who has committed to Louisville. Lockhart led the Butler Bearettes with 21 points and 15 rebounds in their 54-30 win over the Lady Marshals.

A good first quarter for the Lady Marshals put them up 9-6 following a 3-pointer by Tera Colson with six seconds remaining in the quarter and they trailed by five at halftime with scoring coming from Cayson Conner with four points, Kinley Edwards three points and Chloe Kerrick with the final basket of the half.

The second half was all Butler, who out-scored Marshall County 31-12 to improve to 7-0. Butler won the KHSAA Girl’s State Championship in 2014 and 2016, losing in the round of eight last season to Murray High.

Conner led the Lady Marshals with 11 points, hit two three’s in the game and was 3/4 from the free throw line. They will play on Thursday at 7:00 against Rockcastle who defeated Livingston Central 54-52 in the final game on Wednesday.
