CFS notches first win of the season over Burgin

Christian Fellowship’s boy’s basketball team earned their first win of the season 63-45 over Burgin on Saturday. Through their first six games, the Eagles have been led in scoring by Brice Etheridge with 83 points and Jesse Covey with 60.

In their win over Burgin, Covey led with 21 points followed by Etheridge with 18. Covey was 9 of 11 in field goals for 81.8% and hit 3 of 6 from the free throw line while Etheridge hit four from 3-point range. CFS led 24-22 at halftime then stretched their lead out a bit more in the third quarter to 43-34, going on to out-score Burgin 20-11 in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles season opened on November 27th against Dawson Springs. Dawson Springs won 67-48 and CFS was led by Etheridge with 14 points, Covey with 10 and Nathaneal Hummel and Elijah Toth each added 8 points. That game was followed by an 80-32 loss to Union County, led again by Etheridge with 12 points and Covey with 11.

CFS lost to Ballard Memorial 66-44 on December 5th. Etheridge scored 23 points, hitting 7 of 12 field goals and two free throws. Starkey added 7 points and Covey 5 points. Fulton County defeated the Eagles 62-40 on December 7th. Etheridge scored 10 points, Starkey 7 and 6 a piece from Hummel and Jaret Logsdon.

December 12 against Crittenden County, CFS lost 60-48, this time led by Covey with 13 points, Hummel with 8 and Etheridge added 7. Metcalfe County won 73-49 over the Eagles on December 15th led by Etheridge with 22 who hit four three’s in the game. Starkey and Toth were also in double figures with 13 and 11 points.

CFS will carry the momentum of their first win into today’s game against Louisville Collegiate at the Bulldog Classic at Fulton City. They will play again on Wednesday against Fulton City.
