My name is Monti Collins. I am excited to announce my candidacy for Commissioner of Marshall County’s Third District.
Many of you know me, but for those who don’t, I am a lifelong resident of Marshall County. I graduated from Marshall County High School in 1991 and from Murray State University in 1996 with a degree in Finance.
I married Denise Barrett in 2002. We have two daughters, Sophie and Jillian, who are both 11 years old. Denise has been a teacher at Calvert Elementary for her entire career of 22 years. We attend Sharpe Missionary Baptist church where I have served as the Treasurer and Sunday School teacher and Denise is the AWANA Commander.
At Murray State, I was a founder and Treasurer of my fraternity and represented the College of Business and Public Affairs as their Senator in the Student Government Association.
I have worked in most areas of banking for several prominent banks. I ended my time in banking as the Lakes Region Executive for a local bank. I have served as the Treasurer and Chairman of the Board for the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, a board member for Adoption Bridges of Kentucky and a four year member on the Department of Financial Institutions Board.
In 2013, I took my experience in finance and began working in real estate. It has provided me the opportunity to get out of the office and meet people in our community that I may not have had the opportunity to meet otherwise.
I currently sit on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky-Barkley Lakes Board of Realtors, where I have been the co-chair of the Governmental Affairs Task Force for 2 years and will be the 2018 President-Elect of the Board.
People in the Third District need to know that I understand the issues we face and the opportunities before us. The industrial complex that fuels our county will not be there forever without making the site more attractive to a diverse set of industries.
I-69 is going to be enticing to industry. Calvert City already has rail to offer. We need a riverport for industries that move a lot of product by water. I also understand sanitation projects, water projects and a new industrial park are critical to the county.
As the upcoming election year approaches, I challenge you to make one civic engagement goal so that you too can become a change agent in our community. For opportunities to become involved and support my campaign please email montic1973@gmail.com or look me up on Facebook. I look forward to serving you in every capacity afforded to me.
Sincerely,
Monti Collins
