Collins announces intent to run for District 3 Commissioner’s seat

Monti Collins, a member of the Kentucky-Barkley Lakes Board of Realtors board of directors and a former local bank executive, has announced his intent to run for the District 3 Marshall County Commissioner’s seat in the 2018 election.

District 3 encompasses the areas of Sharpe, Calvert City and other areas of North Marshall. Rick Cocke currently holds the seat; Cocke has not yet announced intent to run for re-election.

Collins, a Marshall County native, is a graduate of Murray State University who holds a degree in finance. During his time at MSU, he served as the senator for the College of Business and Public Affairs in the Student Government Association.

Collins has spent time in the banking industry, having served as the Lakes Region Executive for a local bank, according to a letter of intent. He was also the treasurer and chairman of the board of directors for the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, as well as a board member for the Adoption Bridges of Kentucky and for the Department of Financial Institutions board.

He now works in real estate. In his association with the Kentucky-Barkley Lakes Board of Realtors he serves as the co-chairman of the Governmental Affairs Task Force is the 2018 president-elect.

“People in the Third District need to know that I understand the issues we face and the opportunities before us,” Collins said in his letter of intent. “The industrial complex that fuels our county will not be there forever without making the site more attractive to a diverse set of industries.”

Collins is married to his wife Denise, and together the two have two daughters.
