KSP honors memory of fallen trooper with memorial service

Kentucky State Police, along with local law enforcement and the mother of Trooper Cameron Ponder, gathered today to remember the fallen trooper.  Trooper Joseph “Cameron” Ponder was fatally shot on Sept. 13, 2015, while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 24 in Lyon County.  Shortly thereafter, a flagpole was erected at the site of the shooting. Around the flagpole, many flowers and other remembrances have been placed over the past two years.

Today, on the second anniversary, KSP gathered with fellow law enforcement family and Ponder’s mother, to place a wreath in remembrance of his life and sacrifice.

Prior to the wreath laying, at 9:54 a.m., KSP observed a moment of silence in memory of Ponder, whose unit number was 954.
