Lady Marshals shut out Hopkinsville 7-0

Kylee Crass, controlling the ball near mid-field, scored a goal in the Lady Marshals 7-0 win, her sixth straight game with a goal.

Carmen Gunn put the Lady Marshals on the board first just under nine minutes into the game Tuesday at home against Hopkinsville. She followed that up with her second goal near the 14 minute mark on an assist by Tori Ford and the tone was set, as the Lady Marshals went on to beat the Lady Tigers 7-0.

Bailey Wood scored on an assist from Camryn Crass to put Marshall County up 3-0 at halftime. Nearly seven minutes into the second half, goal number four came off the foot of Kylee Crass and the fifth goal from Camryn Crass on an assist by Gunn just under three minutes later.

Gunn completed the hat trick with her third goal of the game just seconds later and the final goal came from Kat Howard, assisted by Whitley Watwood with 10 minutes to go in the game.

Carlen Whirley earned the shut out for the Lady Marshals with four saves while Mallory Smithson allowed seven goals along with nine saves for Hopkinsville. The Lady Marshals took 26 shots, 16 on goal while Hopkinsville had four shots with four on goal. The JV team won their game over Hopkinsville 2-1.

The win moves the Lady Marshals to 6-2-1 on the season. They will host the Lady Marshal Classic Saturday at Colburn Stadium, taking on Anderson County in the first game at 10:00 am, McCracken County will play Greenwood at noon, the Lady Marshals JV squad will play McCracken County JV at 2:00 followed by a 4:00 game between McCracken County and Anderson County. The final game will be at 6:00 between the Lady Marshals and Greenwood.
