Lucille Rudolph Ward

Lucille Ward was born in Searcy, Arkansas on June 28, 1923 and passed away August 1, 2017 at her home.

She attended Rosebower Elementary a one room school and graduated from Reidland High School where she participated in the Debate Team, Home Economics and served on a committee to prepare the first Reidland High School Yearbook. She later served on a committee to organize class reunions.

Mrs. Ward was a longtime member of Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sharpe Kentucky. She served as pianist more than 50 years, as Sunday school teacher, president, and member of Cumberland Presbyterian Women and as leader and teacher of many Bible Schools. She helped set up Perpetual Care for the Oakland Cemetery and served as secretary and treasurer of the Oakland Cemetery for 19 years. She also started a fund to have the Oakland Church drive and parking lot paved and had pulpit chairs made and placed in the church in honor of her parents. She liked gospel and country music and was very devoted to her family. Lucille was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed wildlife, reading, photography and traveling. She was a scrapbook enthusiast going back to 1973 and kept, many photo albums of family, friends, family reunions and trips she and her husband Paul Made over the years. She and Paul visited all the original 48 states sometimes taking a grandson or daughter with them, and a little of Mexico and Canada. She and her daughters traveled to Switzerland and the Smoky Mountains.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Kirk of Burna, KY and Paulette Bearden of Sharpe, KY; two grandsons, Les English of Burna, KY and Dale Bearden of Sharpe, KY; five great grandchildren, Jessica English of Calvert City, KY and Leslie English of Princeton, KY; Brittaney Bearden of Sharpe, KY, Jeremi Bearden and wife Kayla of Benton, KY and Kristi Rogers and husband Justin of Arlington, KY; six great great grandchildren; Brady, Dawson and Mason Bearden and Camden, Greyson and Adalynn Rogers; sister-in-law, Elouise Ward of Biloxi, MS and several nieces , nephews and friends.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul Ward, her parents Eva Mae and Hughie Robert Rudolph, one brother, John T. Rudolph, son-in-law, Robert Kirk and one nephew.
