Local church offers two new outreach programs

St. Peter’s of the Lakes Episcopal Church, located at 47 Black River Road in Gilbertsville, is introducing two new outreach programs that are available to Marshall County residents.

St. Peter’s “Blessings Box” is a pantry stocked with non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products for those in need. The box is stocked with parishioner donations, but any donations from the local community would be welcomed, as well.

St. Peter’s “Little Free Library” is stocked with books for all ages, both fiction and nonfiction. The church encourages residents to use the resource, and all members ask is that users return a book when they take a book.

Both these resources are located in a brightly lit area of the church parking lot. There is a sign at the corner of Hwy 641 north and Red River Road near Kentucky Dam State Resort Park, directing residents to the “Blessings Box.”

The church also encourages everyone to visit “The Labyrinth” located on the church grounds. It is a quiet, reflective place where you can walk, meditate, pray – whatever the need might be. It is open to the public and there are information sheets to help visitors understand and use the labyrinth if they are not familiar with its concept.
