UPDATE:  Calloway County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that escaped inmate Ray Perry Caldwell, 29, of Murray is now back in custody. Caldwell reportedly walked away from the Murray Calloway County Hospital recovery unit following a surgical procedure last night.

Calloway County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an escaped inmate.

According to CCSO, an inmate identified as Ray Perry Caldwell, 29, of Murray escaped just before 8 p.m. Monday, July 24, from the recovery unit of Murray Calloway County Hospital following a surgical procedure.

Caldwell is a white man, standing about 6-1 and weighs about 185 pounds. He was seen exiting the south entrance of the facility in a hospital gown and purple cap. Further investigation revealed Caldwell had been spotted at the Huck’s gas station on the south end of town. He was reportedly wearing only shorts or boxers with no shirt.

Caldwell has a large injury to his arm, which has been bandaged. Residents who have seen or had contact with Caldwell are asked to phone 911. The public is advised not to approach him.
