Fred Perry

Fred A. Perry was called home on May 6, 2017, at age 57. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Perry Sr.; his brother, Sayles Perry; and man’s best friend Harley.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Susan of 32 years; daughter, Erica and her husband Ben Shipley of Anchorage, Alaska; his oldest son, Fred Perry Jr. and his wife Laura Perry of Central City; his youngest son, Eric Perry and his wife Katie Perry of Ward, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Zoey, Jamie, Nic, Landin, Emma, Kinsley, Hunter and Elisa.

Fred Perry was born and raised in Charleston, W. Va., where he met the love of his life, Susan (Shaffer) Perry. Here, Fred had two children, Erica and Fred Perry Jr. Fred and Susan moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1985 where he became a diesel mechanic at Compressed Air Systems. Fred and Susan had their youngest child Eric Perry in 1988. In 1999 Fred and his family moved to Calvert City where he worked in industrial sales in the Calvert City area.

Fred’s passion was in dirt track racing where he and his two sons raced at local dirt tracks. Fred won multiple races and track championships through his racing career. He was always known and loved as a great race car driver and a even better man who could always put a smile on your face. He’ll be loved and missed by many, fly high Flyin’ Zero.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton. Rev. Jim Smith will officiate. Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
