Every community has its volunteers, but there are those who truly go above and beyond to better the world around them.
Marshall County has more than its share. We all know them. They are the people who never stop moving, working throughout the day and yet still finding time to volunteer at Marcella’s Kitchen, in their churches, with their local Boy Scout or Girl Scouts. Maybe they mentor troubled children or coach youth sports. Perhaps they raise funds for Relay for Life or nonprofit charities.
Whatever it is they do, they pour heart and soul into every minute. And though they often sacrifice their own time, they do it all with a smile.
Most often, they are the ones who stay silent about their efforts and call little to no attention to themselves. They are the sort of unsung heroes that need only the work itself to make it all worthwhile.
They are the very spirit of this community, those who drive it forward and make it such a special place to live and work.
We at Marshall County Daily want to recognize them for all that they do. However, we need the community’s help to do it. Do you know someone who embodies that spirit of giving, the true spirit of Marshall County? Tell us about it. We’re accepting nominees for a regular feature here on Marshall County Daily. We’ll talk to their friends, co-workers – everyone BUT that person – and put together a story acknowledging their efforts. The end result is, hopefully, a nice surprise for them and something special for all of us in knowing just how amazing they are.
So, let us know who makes up the Spirit of Marshall County. Send your nominations to news@marshallcountydaily.com, subject line “Spirit nominee.” We’ll do our best to do them justice.
