MAYFIELD – Graves County handed the Lady Marshals their fourth loss of the season Friday at the Eagles Nest. An early 7-0 lead led to a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter for the Lady Marshals before momentum began to swing the way of the Lady Eagles after the Lady Marshals went up by 12 points early in the second quarter.

“We took our foot off the gas”, Head Coach Joseph Simmons said. “We were getting the shots that we wanted, they made an adjustment or two and we didn’t respond to it.”
Tera Colson started the second quarter for the Lady Marshals with a three for a 19-8 lead and following free throws from Graves County’s Lyndi Qualls, Miyah Davis hit a 3-pointer to give the Lady Marshals a 12 point lead, their largest of the game. From there it was all Graves County, scoring 13 unanswered points, half of them coming from Danielle Waggoner, to tie the game 22-22 at halftime.
Qualls gave the Lady Eagles their first lead of the game to start the second half that swung back to the Lady Marshals on a three by Davis. Three lead changes and a tie later, the quarter ended on a basket by Hannah Langhi who was fouled making the free throw for a 34-32 lead.
Graves County held the Lady Marshals to four point from Langhi and Paige Henson early in the fourth quarter for a 38-34 lead but the Lady Eagles would finish the game out on an 8-0 run for the four point win.
Graves County made 22 trips to the free throw line in the game, scoring 15 points while the Lady Marshals stepped up to the line eight times for six points. The win improves the Lady Eagles record to 16-2.
