The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the US 62 Cumberland River "Blue" Bridge at Lake City on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Traffic on the US 62 Cumberland River "Blue" Bridge will be restricted to one lane in short sections to allow an annual walk-through inspection of the bridge structure. All Kentucky bridges get a detailed inspection every two years. Long-span bridges over lakes and rivers get an additional safety check annually. The work zone lane restriction is expected to be in place between about 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., CDT. Some minor delays are possible as inspectors go about their work. Also, known as The Blue Bridge and the Eureka Highway Bridge, the structure carries approximately 7,000 vehicles in an average day. Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. The US 62 Cumberland River Bridge is at the Livingston-Lyon County Line immediately below Barkley Dam at Lake City, KY. The bridge also carries US 641 traffic. The 1,466 ft. cantilevered Warren through truss bridge with a 700 ft. main span was opened to traffic in 1952. The bridge is at US 62 Livingston County mile point 2.852 and Lyon County mile point 0.0. The Eureka Highway Bridge is located at Cumberland River navigation mile point 30.0.
