Livingston County Ducks Unlimited Makes Donation to Friends of Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge

du-checkLast week, the Livingston County Ducks Unlimited Chapter presented a check to The Friends of Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge. The $450 was raised at their annual banquet in memory of Charlie Watkins, a Marshall County native who passed in 2013.

du-charliewatkinsMr. Watkins was a long-time member of The Friends of Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge, an avid outdoorsman, and waterfowl enthusiast. He loved sharing the outdoors with people especially when it involved kids. The Friends Group was honored to accept this donation in his memory and use the funds to enhance waterfowl habitat on Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge and promote the excitement of waterfowl with others.

Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1997 to provide essential nesting and migration habitat for migratory birds, and protect a diminished habitat type referred to as bottomland hardwood forest in Marshall, McCracken, and Graves Counties. The Friends of Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1999 to help the refuge meet its management objectives.
