Marshals fine-tuning in final matches before regional tournament

CALVERT CITY – With just a little over two weeks left in the regular golf season before the 1st Region Tournament on September 29th at Calvert City Country Club, the Marshals Head Coach Keith Bell is pleased to see scores close to par from his team.

“These student-athletes continue to work hard on their own and at practice, with the goal of making the state tournament in Bowling Green”, Bell said. ” It was great to see our golfers play well as we head toward the regionals.”

The Marshals won Thursday’s four-team match at Calvert City with a team score of 149 led by D.J. Pigg and Jay Nimmo with even-par 36’s, Quinn Eaton shot 1-over 37 and Tyler Powell shot 40. Also playing in the match for the Marshals was Grant Hackney who shot 45, Drew Puteet carded a 48 and Dyver O’Bryan 53.

Trigg County’s Carter Scholar was medalist of the match with a 3-under 33, leading his team to second with a total of 160. Also scoring for Trigg County, Grayson Ford 41, Jack Price 43 and Gabe Nolcox 43.

Livingston Central took third with 177 led by a 39 from Jacob Belt, Cameron Head shot 44, Gabe Williams 44 and Darit Barnes 50.

Christian Fellowship posted no team score but fielded three players led by Logan Draffen with 58, Elijah Toth 61 and Richy Phillips 71.

Five girls played in Thursday’s match with the low round coming from Chritian Fellowship’s Maddie Ortt with 47. Trigg’s Alex Etheridge shot 48, Amber Shelley-CFS 52, Jennifer Rogers-Livingston Central 64 and Brandy Mason-CFS 66.

The Marshals will travel to Central City on Saturday to participate in the Muhlenburg Co. Invitational, their final tournament prior to the regional tournament. The Lady Marshals will play in the Bowling Green Invitational on Saturday and their regional tournament will be on Monday, September 28th at the Oaks Country Club.

Next Monday the Marshals will play in their last home match of the season at Calvert City Country Club.

Christian Fellowship will play three matches next week on Monday at Calvert City, Tuesday at Mayfield and their final regular season match Thursday at Calvert City.
