HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University has found its next women’s basketball leader, tapping Murray State associate head coach Wyatt Foust to take the reins of the program, the university announced Monday night.

Foust, who spent four seasons at Murray State in various capacities, becomes the sixth head coach in HPU women’s basketball history. The announcement was made jointly by HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein and Athletic Director Dan Hauser.

The Kentucky native built his résumé steadily in Murray, beginning as the program’s Director of Basketball Operations in 2021-22 before transitioning to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He was elevated to associate head coach this past season.

Murray State head coach Rechelle Turner offered a glowing send-off for her departing assistant, describing Foust as one of the most well-rounded young coaches in the college game.

“Wyatt has an unmatched work ethic, and he is a triple threat when it comes to building a winning team,” Turner said. “He is an exceptional recruiter, he is meticulous in scout and preparation, and he excels at in-game adjustments. Wyatt has been an integral part of our championship run here at Murray State, and we wish him the very best in this exciting new chapter of his career.”

Hauser praised the hire enthusiastically, highlighting Foust’s ability to recruit and his emphasis on relationships within a program.

“His passion for excellence is unmatched,” Hauser said, adding that Foust’s family values align with the culture the athletic department strives to build.

Foust and his wife Jenna will bring their three children — Coy, Noa, and Townes — to the High Point community as he begins the next chapter of his coaching career.
