MURRAY – Meet and school records were broken at the Racer Relays at Murray State on Saturday, April 5th. Collin Gunn set a new school record in the 2,000 meter steeplechase with a time 7:05.00 and the boy’s 4 x 800 relay team set a meet record of 8:20.76, finishing 32 seconds over second place. The relay team is made up of Collin Gunn, Dax Parker, Jacob Carnine and Robert Blankenship.
Along with his steeplechase win, Gunn took first in the 1600 meters in 4:47.17.
Carnine crossed in first in the 800 meters in 2:07.15 while Marshall hurdlers Jack Brown and Tyler Hega continue to place well with Brown taking 2nd in the 110 meter high hurdles and 4th in the 300 meter high hurdles. Hega placed 3rd in the 110 meter high hurdles and 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles.
Kaitlin Cook placed well in the steeplechase, an event that is not available at most meets. Cook took 2nd with 9:39.01.
Stephanie Russell and Brandy Baas competed well in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. Russell took 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in the 300 while Baas was 4th in the 100 and 5th in the 300.
