Firefighters move quickly to extinguish fire in Calvert City plant’s processing area

CALVERT CITY – Just before 5:30 p.m. today, emergency responders were dispatched to a report of a fire, called in by a passer-by, at Calvert City’s American Environmental Services. Two fire departments including Calvert City and Possum Trot- Sharpe responded to Shar-Cal Road along with officers from the Calvert City Police Department where firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames which reportedly ignited in the processing area of the plant.

According to initial reports, there were no hazardous releases of any kind. Members of the Marshall County Rescue Squad also responded to AES where they provided scene and traffic control during the incident. The fire was described as being small and there were no injuries reported.

AES manages solid, semi-solid, gas, and liquid hazardous and non-hazardous waste from off site generators. AES receives hazardous and non-hazardous wastes from industrial and government clients that can be accepted in a variety of containers ranging from 55 gallon drums, cubic yard boxes, totes, pails, etc.; and also bulk loads ranging from roll off boxes, end dumps, vacuum trucks, and tanker trucks.
