Structure fire in Hardin leads to arrest for suspected arson Saturday morning

UPDATED: Responders were first called to a report of a vehicle on fire near a creek off of Murray Highway this morning when they were then redirected and paged out to the report of a structure fire on Commerce Street.
Responders later utilized a tractor to pull the charred vehicle from the creek bed (see picture below).

fire16HARDIN – A suspect has been arrested following a structure fire this morning in Hardin on Commerce Street.

Emergency Responders from three fire departments, Hardin, Aurora-Ross and Benton, were called to the scene shortly after 9 a.m. and fought to battle the blaze in freezing temperatures.

A rental home and vehicle were both damaged in the fire.

Hardin Fire Chief Jeff Edwards says at this time, arson is suspected as both the home and vehicle had a common owner and confirms that the suspect has been taken into custody.

Chief Edwards extends his thanks to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Bailey’s Towing Service and West KY Rural Electric for their assistance today.

UPDATED: Hardin Firefighters utilized a tractor to pull the charred remains of a vehicle from this morning’s double-callout including a vehicle and structure fire.
