Marshall County Dispatch received a 911 call, of a possible impaired driver over on March 7.
The caller gave a license plate number and said the vehicle was a white Dodge van, that was headed South on Main Street and it was all over the road. Just a short time later, Dispatch received a call from an employee, at Priceless IGA.

The employee stated that there was a male subject, inside the store, that was stumbling around and nearly passing out. Officer Curtner responded to IGA and located the subject in the men’s bathroom. The subject, identified as John Holder, 39, of Benton, appeared to be under the influence.

He had slurred speech, was unsteady and had constricted pupils. He admitted to taking a sleeping pill within the past hour and stated he didn’t drive, but his mother had dropped him off. He stated his mother was still outside in the parking lot and Officer Curtner went outside to check, but was not able to locate her. Officer Curtner, did however locate the same white Dodge van that was previously called in, as being all over the roadway.

The van was registered to Holders mother. Holder then admitted, that he in fact did drive his mother’s van, to IGA. Field sobriety tests were performed and it was determined that Holder was under the influence of medication. He was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence (1st Offense).
