Marshall County’s Public Health Director reports of national vaccination numbers error

In a call with Commissioner Stack, Marshall County Health Department Public Health Director Billy Pitts said Stack informed all Public Health Directors that there has been an ongoing error in reporting vaccination numbers from a national pharmacy to the Federal reporting system. He did not name the pharmacy.

Dr. Stack informed them that the pharmacy has been reporting numbers in two separate systems which has resulted in duplicate numbers. The reporting error has filtered down to several states and local reporting systems across the nation. Dr. Stack said the Federal Government and the pharmacy are working to correct the reporting issue and remove duplicate numbers.

The number of people reported as vaccinated in Marshall County will possibly show a decrease depending on how many citizens in our community received their vaccinations from this pharmacy. Since we do not know the pharmacy or the number of people who received their vaccination from this pharmacy, we do not know the potential impact of this issue.

The correction to the reporting system should occur the early part of next week according to Dr. Stack.
