Lady Marshals top Graves County 3-1 in final week of the regular season

In their final home game of the 2021 regular season, the Lady Marshals picked up their 17th win of the season 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-10, 25-22) over Graves County (8-17). They play their final game of the regular season on Thursday at Community Christian Academy before next week’s 4th District Tournament.

After winning the first set, the Lady Marshals energy fell off in set two allowing the Lady Eagles to tie the match up but they rebounded nicely to put the game away with wins in the next two sets.

The win was fueled by Halle Langhi’s 18 kills and three each from Sarah Bremmerkamp, Alyssa McClain and Maddie Irvan. Annie Beard had a team leading 21 assists and four aces. Ashley Bremmerkamp had 19 assists, Irvan 17 and Sarah Bremmerkamp 15.

Last week the Lady Marshals took a break from games over Fall Break but before that, played five games in the Quad State Tournament at McCracken County and finish 4-1. Their only loss to Henderson County 2-0 (25-12, 25-20) . Wins came over Todd County Central 2-0 (25-22, 25-12), Dyersburg, Tenn. 2-0 (25-20, 25-18), Owensboro 2-0 (25-22, 25-22) and Valor College Prep, Tenn 2-0 (25-17, 25-22).

In the five games combine, Langhi had 45 kills, Irvan 21 and Sarah Bremmerkamp 16. Beard led in assists with 70 and Laney Evans had 29. In digs, Ashley Bremmerkamp had 49 and 28 each by Irvan and Ashley Bremmerkamp. Langhi led in aces with 13.

The 4th District Tournament will be played at Murray High. The Lady Marshals will play Murray in the first semi-final on Monday, Oct. 18 at 5:30. The second semi-final will follow between Christian Fellowship and Calloway County. The championship game is Tuesday at 6:00.
