Courts fall to Henry Clay team in KHSAA State Tennis Championship

Kiefer and Kian Court opened up the first round of the KHSAA State Tennis Championship held at the Top Seed Tennis Complex in Nicholasville, Ky., against the Henry Clay team of Wenxiang Sun and Jake Walters. Their tournament ended with a 6-4, 6-1 loss.

The Courts won the first game of the match, tied 1-1 by Henry Clay. Sun and Walters went up 2-1, Kiefer and Kian tying it again at 2-2. All square again at 3-3, the Courts took the advantage at 4-3 before the Henry Clay team won three straight games to take the first set 6-4.

Henry Clay went up 3-love in the second set before the Courts won game four. Sun and Walters went on to win the next three games for the 6-1 second set and match win.

Sun and Walters won their second round game later in the day against Dustin Harrision and Niko Jones of Trinity (Louisville), winning in a tiebreaker 6-4, 0-6, 1-0 (5). They advanced to Wednesday’s round of 16 against the doubles team from Central Hardin.
