Marshall County and Calloway County split their two regular season games – both decisive wins by each team. Monday in the Fourth District championship, the Marshals won their third straight district title with another decisive victory over the Lakers.

Their 14-3 win came on eight hits, led by Chase Hayden who was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Griffin Darnall with a double and three RBIs and Ethan Landis with a double and two RBIs. Clay Hale earned the win over five innings, allowing five hits, three runs with one earned and struck out one.

Scoreless through the first two innings, the Marshals grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on the double by Landis.

A five-run top of the fifth began on a single by Chase Gibbs and walk by Reese Oakley with the first run coming in on a bunt from Conner Mannon. Brady Ives and Evan Oakley brought runs in on bases loaded walks and Darnall’s two-run double made it a 6-0 game.

Calloway scored two runs in the bottom of the inning on a double by Braden Pingel and sacrifice fly by Cadwell Turner.

The Marshals made it an 8-2 game, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth on an error that brought Mannon across the plate and single by Hayden that scored Ives. Calloway’s final run in the bottom of the inning came in on a single by Austin Collie.

Not resting on the 8-3 lead and facing the third and fourth pitcher of the game for Calloway in the top of the seventh, the Marshals loaded the bases on three walks, scoring six runs on a single by Mannon, Landis walk, Ives sacrifice, Hayden single, Darnall sacrifice and Ty Davenport single.

They will now await the draw to see who their first First Region tournament opponent will be.
