MCEC expresses thanks for successful “Exceptional Sunday”

Mahalo’

noun – Hawaiian

Thank you is the most basic meaning of Mahalo, but it has deeper meaning. Mahalo is a Hawaiian value, one of thankfulness, appreciation, and gratitude as a way of living life, it is a way for expressing thanks, from the bottom of your heart.

The Marshall County Exceptional Center Board of Directors, Staff, and Individuals would like to say “Mahalo” to all who made our 57th “Exceptional Sunday” Drive-Thru Hawaiian Open House such an amazing day. While this year’s event was different than any we have ever had before due to COVID-19, it was undoubtedly our most successful year yet! We cannot thank everyone enough for continuing to support MCEC and our mission to serve adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities during these challenging times. It is such a blessing to our individuals to be able to rely on our community to support their agency, even when times are hard. The total raised for this event is approximately $80,000.00, however donations are still coming in and the total keeps growing!

We would like to specially thank Mr. Joe Tom Haltom for his tremendous donation of $25,000.00 at the event. His generosity and support throughout our years has truly been a cornerstone of our operations. Mr. Haltom has been a crucial part of our organization since its inception and our agency’s legacy is tied to him and his family. We cannot thank him enough for his assistance in ensuring MCEC’s future.

We also would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Marshall County Elks Lodge #2707 for their enormous donation of $50,000.00 at “Exceptional Sunday”. Each year the Elks work tirelessly to gather funds and plan for their annual golf tournament benefit for MCEC. To say “thank you” does not seem to truly express our deep appreciation for the Elks. The Elks have continually provided for our organization and it is without a doubt that we would not be in operation without their continued support.

Once again, “Mahalo” to everyone who helped to make MCEC’s “Exceptional Sunday” Open House truly exceptional.
