Trailers are filling up for Marshall Co. to Marshall St. Hurricane Relief Drive

Two trailers are filling up with supplies that will be traveling from Marshall County to Marshall Street in the Cameron Parish of Louisiana. The supply drive began on Monday and will continue until the trailers are full.

The idea for the drive came about after the Sheriff’s Office heard that many first responders as well as citizens in the area were in need of basic necessities and clean-up supplies in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.

Marshall Street runs through Cameron Parish and the Cameron Parish School District is also located on Marshall Street.

Generators, chainsaws, water, Powerade, gas and money are among items already donated and on the trailers. Donations are still being accepted for those items as well as gloves, tarps and two-stroke oil and can be dropped off at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office in Benton.

Sheriff Edie McGuire said they will pull out of Marshall County and head to Louisiana on Sunday afternoon.
