Lane Restriction on U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter Week of August 24-28

PADUCAH, Ky. (August 21, 2020) — A contractor for the Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative plans a daytime eastbound work zone lane restriction on the U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter the week of August 24-28, 2020.

This eastbound work zone lane restriction is to allow the contractor to install utility lines along the bridge. This daytime work zone is expected to be established in about 500 ft. sections to facilitate the work at various locations along the bridge deck.

Eastbound motorists should be alert for one-lane traffic during daylight hours. Caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and utility personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

The U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter is at U.S. 60 McCracken County mile point 20.45, just east of the U.S. 60 intersection with U.S. 62. The bridge is at U.S. 60 Livingston County mile point 0.0.

The U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge opened to traffic on July 31, 2013. Also known as The Ledbetter Bridge and the William Clark Memorial Bridge, the 3,690-foot strucutre carries approximately 6,500 vehicles across the Tennessee River each day.

The 1800 ft bridge designed as a warren truss with no verticals is believed to be the longest continuous truss span in the world. At 900 ft, it has the 8th longest main span in the world.

The bridge is at Tennessee River navigation mile point 5.3.
