Class of 2020 – Sean Janiec

Sean was entering his fourth season with the Marshall County track and field team. A new member of the sprint squad, Sean previously had been a part of the middle distance crew; however, after having a strong showing in the 4 x 400 meter relay (finishing 10th at state last year), according to Coach Andrew Johnson, he decided to focus on the open 400 and shorter sprints this season.

He was the second leg of the relay team which set the new Marshall County High School record in the 4 x 400 relay—finishing with a 3:34.17.

Sean was a key member of the Marshall County soccer team that won the district and regional titles in the fall.

When discussing Sean, Coach Johnston said, “Sean was a soccer player we were very fortunate to convert over in the sprints. Sean has always been a go-getter and last year his hard work and dedication had really began to pay out. Sean came on strong going into the state meet last year and was showing a lot of promise this season. He was a guy on the squad who was soft spoken, but a natural leader. Replacing a guy like him won’t come easily. And while we will be worse for losing him, I look forward to seeing what this guy does at the next level.”

Sean will continue his soccer and track career on an athletic scholarship to Freed Hardman University.
